Privacy
The short version: I don't track you. The long version is below.
No analytics
This site has no analytics. I don't use Google Analytics, Plausible, Fathom, or any other tracking system. I have no idea how many people visit, which pages they view, or where they come from.
This is intentional. I don't want to optimize for engagement. I want to write things that are useful, and I don't need metrics to know whether I'm doing that.
No cookies
This site sets no cookies. None. Zero. There's no cookie banner because there's nothing to consent to.
No tracking scripts
This site does not run tracking scripts, fingerprinting, or behavior analysis.
No embedded content
There are no embedded tweets, YouTube players, or social widgets on this site. Those embeds typically load third-party tracking code. Any links to external sites (like YouTube for video versions) are explicit—you click, you leave, and their tracking is on them, not on me.
Server logs
The server that hosts this site keeps standard access logs. That's just how web servers work. These logs typically include:
- IP addresses
- Timestamps
- Pages requested
- Referrer headers (if your browser sends them)
- User agent strings
I don't analyze these logs. I don't feed them into analytics tools. They exist because servers log things, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise.
If you email me:
- I receive your email address and whatever you wrote.
- If you ask to subscribe, I add you to a plain text list.
- I don't use email marketing software. There's no automation, no segmentation, no tracking pixels.
- If you want off the list, email me and I'll remove you.
External links
This site links to external resources: YouTube, academic papers, news articles, books. When you click those links, you're leaving this site and entering theirs. Their privacy practices are their business.
I try to be explicit about when links go external. If a link takes you to YouTube, you'll know before you click.
Changes
If I ever change this policy (unlikely, since there's not much to change), I'll note it here with a date.
